A cross-cultural tool for the modern world
Cultivate works to empower individuals to explore and interact with diverse ethnocentric cultures. It offers a place of opportunity for self-cultural exploration, and critical reflection to encourage users to have an active role in their cultural learning.
This tool was designed in the form of a mobile application. It acts as a digital library of information and activities centralised around three concepts, ‘know yourself, explore, and challenge’. These components provide a framework that encourages individual learning, personal development, community building, connection to existing cultural resources and support for local businesses.
This project was inspired by my own search for cultural identity as a “1.5 generation Australian” born of two migrant families. I wanted to explore how multicultural cities must instil a sense of global citizenship to connect diverse communities.
This was developed as part of my Honours thesis and final project under the supervision of Areli Avendano.
